This in-the-hoop project is for 5×7 journals commonly found in the US in stores like Office Depot, K-Mart, Walmart, etc. The cover comfortably holds a 5×6.75 to 7 by 3/4″ inch journal and can be made in 5×7 hoops or larger. Please make sure that the journal measurements do not exceed these measurements. Your machine needs to be able to stitch a size of 5.12×7.09″.
The journal cover consists of a crazy patch style design, as well as a small flower design. The cover has a back pocket for a small calculator as well as two narrow pockets for a pen and highlighter. It also features an elastic strap that holds the journal shut when not in use. This cover is done in 3 hoopings in 5×7 hoops:
You will construct the front first, then the back with pocket, and then in the last hooping you will combine the two parts by stitching a cover spine. It is not hard to do. Just follow the instructions listed in the enclosed pdf document carefully. Lots of photos included.
